Presently I am employed by Newcastle Council, NSW, Australia.
I am involved in day to day map
production, LiDAR and aerial photography work, several ongoing
projects, and duties as required. Previous projects have
included the LEP maps, Fire Trail Classification and Carry
Capacity, Road Network, National Park Outreach maps, some 3D
work in Microstation, creation of internal mapping training
videos, and involvement in larger projects. I have a few maps
that were made for the public that I show on this website, but
most of the work I do is not displayed here.
Prior to this I worked for an Engineering Corporation in the San
Francisco Bay Area, California.
Cartography, data development and production have
come together in GIS maps that have been legal documents used by
FEMA in their levee risk failure analysis in the Natomas Basin
drainage area of California. For two years I worked on
behalf of private industry and the federal government and have
an inside knowledge of their functioning. I was also a liaison
between FEMA, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and County
Government on flood mapping outreach programs.
These duties included data acquisition,
from identifying, digitizing, and attributing, to delivering the
final product in a geodatabase, with complete metadata, to
industry standards. All sources of data were used, from
pre-existing data, to topographic maps and satellite imagery.
Analysis of levee breach areas were joined to census data to
determine the number of homes affected, and a damage estimate.
Flood map production was a lengthy process involving the use of
specialized Arcmap tools.
Quality Control of CAD drawings of
military bases was one of my tasks. Correct projection and
placement of multiple drawings and layers, as well as the naming
standards of layers, and the final plotting, was ensured to be
correct prior to accepting the deliverables and passing them
along.
Am also experienced in network analysis, census data,
and subdivision design, along with a good working knowledge of zoning and
building by laws. I bring 25 years experience as a construction contractor
with me and have a solid background in construction and development. Am
experienced in updating CAD construction drawings and have done site plans,
electrical, gas & water, etc.
